Meet the Calgarians Building the Green Line – Mohammed Khereis
Meet Mohammed Khereis, the Engineer In Training (E.I.T) for the 78 Avenue Project. As the project coordinator for the 78 Avenue Project in the community of Ogden, Mohammed's responsibilities include verifying construction works and ensuring compliance with specifications and requirements. He is also involved in quality assurance, problem-solving, and promoting a safe workplace environment.
Mohammed joined the project in October 2023, during the commencement of the diversion embankment construction. The 78 Avenue Project is unique because it is situated next to an active CPKC redline, which sees about 26 trains passing through daily. This requires a significant amount of coordination and stakeholder relations work.
The 78 Avenue Project comprises three main elements: a pedestrian tunnel at 72 Avenue S.E., a vehicle underpass at 78 Avenue S.E., and the upgrading of a portion of 78 Avenue from Ogden Road East to the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) rail line embankment. On the east side of the embankment, there is an industrial area. The area closest to the embankment is set to become a new roundabout, which will connect to the new 78 Avenue S.E. underpass and serve as the entrance into the industrial area, including various facilities and the CPKC main campus.
