Non-emergency calls

9-1-1 is for police, fire, or medical emergencies that require immediate assistance. If you need help, but it’s not an emergency, please do not call 9-1-1. There are other resources available to help.

Police non-emergency

Call the police non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 for public safety matters and reports of crimes not in progress (e.g. missing or stolen property, non-injury accidents, break and enters, graffiti, fraud, etc).

Medical non-emergencies

For general health information or advice, call Healthlink at 811 or visit MyHealth.Alberta.ca.

Mental health and access to community supports and resources

Call or text 211, or visit 211.ca for help and guidance in non-emergency situations such as mental health and addiction support, connection to food and basic needs, or access to community and social resources. The service is free, confidential, and available 24/7.

Call the HELP team at 403-988-7388 if you see unhoused individuals in a vulnerable state (e.g. having a poor mental health moment, intoxicated and/or using drugs in a public space, trespassing or sleeping in the doorway of a business, in need of transportation, etc).

Call or text 9-8-8 for the 24/7 Suicide Crisis Helpline.

City services and bylaw information

Call 311 or visit calgary.ca/311 for information about City services (e.g. garbage collection) or if you have bylaw questions, concerns or want to file a bylaw complaint. You can also call 311 if you have questions for the fire department that don’t require dispatch such as fire prevention, smoke alarm assistance for seniors and people with disabilities, etc).

Transit non-emergencies

Text 74100 or use the help phone/button on C-Trains and platforms to report immediate safety and security issues (e.g. disorder, areas needing attention or cleaning, broken glass, or harassment, etc).
