Personal Information Banks (PIB) Directory
The City of Calgary (“The City”) is subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy ("FOIP") Act; which governs the manner in which The City collects, uses, and discloses personal information. The FOIP Act requires The City to have a directory of personal information banks (“PIBs”) and make it available to the public.
A PIB allows individuals to know the type of personal information The City may have about them, how it is used, and The City’s authority for the collection.
A PIB directory is open to the public, and contains the following information:
- the title and location of the PIB;
- a description of the information and the categories of people included;
- the authority for collecting the information;
- the reason information is collected; and
- how information is used or disclosed.
Note: The PIB Directory does not provide direct access to an individual's personal information held by The City.
